I have been unable to install any updates. I even went back to 12.1.1 thinking that it had information that the program needed to build on.

The message I got said something about the installed program didn't have the necessary information to continue. I tried to run the disc utility, but I'm not sure I did it correctly. I'm new to mac and I find I'm often missing the obvious on things.
